CHANCELLOR COLLEGE – On May 28, 2025, the Secretariat of Volunteerism and Internationalization, College Representative Council of Chancellor College (Session 2024/2025), organized a program called Blood Donation & Health Screening Program. The event took place at Dewan Sri Pulasan, Chancellor College, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The program successfully attracted the attention of many campus members, including students, lecturers, and support staff.
Held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the program was jointly organized by the Office of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and Chancellor College, with the collaboration of several external agencies including the National Blood Centre (PDN), Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, UPM (HSASS), University Health Centre, UPM (PKU), Apsec, Sri Petaling District Health Office (PKD), Selangor State Health Department, Civil Defence Force (APM), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Darul Syifa, and Optics85.
The main objective of the program was to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining personal health and to promote the habit of regular blood donation. In addition to blood donation, various health screenings were conducted, such as blood pressure checks, glucose level tests, and eye examinations.
According to one of the participants, Wan Intan Sabrina binti Wan Abdul Samad, 21, “This program was very enjoyable because it allowed us to help others through blood donation. I hope programs like this will be held regularly to raise awareness about the importance of donating blood. I also hope more young people will step forward to donate blood and help those in need.”
Students who participated or attended the program received merit points and souvenirs as a token of appreciation for their active involvement. The organizers reported that 141 participants registered via Google Form. However, there were also a number of individuals who attended without prior registration, so the exact number of attendees could not be determined. Despite this, the program successfully attracted donors and managed to collect over 150 bags of blood throughout the event. This reflects the strong spirit of volunteerism and compassion among the UPM community.
Programs like this not only have a positive impact on public health but also help to cultivate a culture of care and mutual support within the campus community.
