UPM SERDANG – The 2023/2024 Chinese New Year Celebration organized by the House of Yuan was successfully held online, at the Chancellor College Hall and Dewan Sri Pulasan from 25th December 2023 to 13th January 2024. This program only involved Chancellor’s College residents and received an enthusiastic response with 37 participants in the CNY Digital Poster Contest, 22 participants in the CNY Decoration Workshop, 32 participants in the CNY Room Door Decoration Contest, 123 participants in the Chinese New Year Celebration Quiz Contest, 29 participants on Chinese New Year Movie Night, 19 participants in the Chinese Calligraphy and Blowing Plum Blossoms Competition and Workshops as well as 43 people at the Closing Ceremony of the Chinese New Year Celebration. The programs implemented also involved 11 committee members of the House of Yuan and other Chancellor’s College residents as the committee members of the programme.

The 2023/2024 Chinese New Year Celebration organized by the Chancellor's College Chinese Society was held so that the residents of Chancellor’s College could understand the Chinese New Year traditions more deeply as well as provide opportunities for all residents to celebrate the Chinese New Year regardless of race and respect each other’s culture within the college. The programmes organized included CNY Digital Poster Contest, CNY Decoration Workshop, CNY Room Door Decoration Contest, Chinese New Year Celebration Quiz Contest, Chinese New Year Movie Night, Chinese Calligraphy and Blowing Plum Blossoms Workshop, Chinese Calligraphy and Blowing Plum Blossoms Competition and the Closing Ceremony of the Chinese New Year Celebration. Throughout the implementation of the CNY Digital Poster Contest and CNY Room Door Decoration Contest, all participants produced digital posters and decorated their room doors with creative Chinese New Year themed decorations while collecting likes for their artwork on Instagram (@yuan_kcupm).

It is hoped that the House of Yuan’s Chinese New Year Celebration has brought Chancellor’s College residents closer together and made them feel a stronger sense of camaraderie and kinship amongst one another.
